Much of the attraction of Paarl is to be found in the fact that it has the
commercial structure of a small city without sacrificing its country

Not in vain is Paarl termed the agricultural capital of the Boland. Situated
in the fruitful and water rich Berg River Valley, Paarl has a well
established industrial sector which relies heavily on industries supplying
the needs of agriculture, while the Western Cape Agricultural Union has also
established its head office at Paarl.
A well developed infrastructure for commercial and industrial development
has long been established. The National road from Cape Town to Johannesburg
runs past Paarl, as does the main railway line to the North. Other plus
factors are the close proximity of Cape Town itself, Cape Town International
Airport, from which air freight can be dispatched and Table Bay Harbour with
its excellent export facilities.
