************.
Le Joubert originally Opterhorst, Olyfboom, was granted in 1693 by the governor of the time Simon van der Stel.Situated on the slopes of Paarl Rock Mountain it is a farm with a historical significance and cultural landscape.Op ter Horst means, the right to keep your identity on a higher slope.
It was here where family’s and slaves pioneered the first private school in Paarl, a water mill and a wine farm which produced superior quality grapes. It also passed through the hands of the son of the Colonel of the Dutch East Indian Company from 1777.
Robin Islands success as an outpost was used as the basis to start an outpost on the farm. Today Le Joubert still lies on the original wagon road and is filled with an abundance of culture past, present and future.
