About the Artists
With stunning vocals and honest lyrics, she captures audiences with an Indie folk/pop/rock style. Accompanying herself with rhythmic guitar and often collaborating with different instrumentalists, Alanna has been performing around Cape Town for the last three years, playing venues such as The V&A Waterfront Amphitheater, Cafe Roux and City Hall. She is also the founder and host of the ‘Rust Jam Sessions’, a unique event with the structure of an open mic and the improv and collaborative elements of a ‘jam’.
Hailing from the sunny seas of Amanzimtoti on the South Coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal, 30 minutes away from Durban, soulful singer-songwriter Badyn Holesgrove was a former member of popular Durban band The Paper Plans and more recently, well-known Cape Town band The Stir.
Badyn is influenced by Crosby Stills Nash and Young, America, Cat Stevens, Beatles, and all things classic from that that time period, as well as the folk, alternative and acoustic music from the 90s up until today, including and not limited to the likes of Death Cab for Cutie, Counting Crows, Dispatch, John Mayer etc. His unique and rough style are a blend of old and new, and his original music is melodic and relies heavily on his lyrical content in its execution.
