HISTORY The homestead is a National Monument dating back to the early 1800’s. Originally built in classic Cape Dutch style, both the lounge and honeymoon suite still have original stinkwood beams and yellowwood ceilings. The cosy diningroom has a traditional fireplace ( “vuurherd” ) and opens on to a delicately secluded sun patio. During the early 1900’s, the house received a Victorian Facade, which is currently enhanced by an indigenous semi-formal garden. The large surrounding trees offer an ambience of tranquility and comfort.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY In the winter of 2010 Liziwe Mafumbula and her daughter started the Imizamo Soup Kitchen in Fairyland, Paarl. Fairyland is an informal housing settlement in Daljosaphat. Lemoenkloof soon became involved in the project in a number of ways: We replaced the original make-shift shelter, the roof of which consisted mainly of highly flammable black plastic. A fire place was built, and we committed to the regular supply of gas. We also began to oversee the provision of stock. With the help of the Paarl Night Shelter, we have co-ordinated the supply of soup meat and bones. Paarl Market has assisted with the supply of vegetables. The soup kitchen manages to feed approx 300 children twice a week.
