Place Category: Where to Eat, Open on Sundays, and Where to Eat in Paarl

More Info
  • Back’s has three main offerings – it is a bistro-style restaurant, a well-stocked fresh and dry goods deli and an online shopping experience. Back’s restaurant and deli has the purpose to continue the tradition of Back’s family values and offers delicious, homegrown food in the heart of historic Paarl. The online shop is an extension of our deli, and aims to expand outside the winelands region soon.

Everything in our restaurant and deli is sourced from either Charles Back’s farms – Fairview Wine and Cheese and Spice Route Destination – or supports local artisans in the area. This ‘locavore’-style offering comes naturally to the Back’s, thanks to their long lineage of farming, with the fundamental basis of everything being grounded in integrity and quality. At the end of the day, Back’s goal is simple: we want to bring you free-range, organic produce that just tastes better – just like it should.

At Back’s, our chef’s team always strive to use ingredients sourced locally such as pastured-raised meat, farm eggs,
olive oil and goat’s cheese. Our breakfast, lunch and dinner offerings are comforting country fare – with a focus on freshness and quality.

With our elegant Cape Dutch exterior and inviting organic-meets-art nouveau interior, Back’s is ideal for hosting your next event. We can accommodate up to 70 people and offer a flexible space for any event – big or small.

Our mission is simple: keep it local. This means respecting the land from which we source our produce, creating fresh food using sustainable ingredients, and most importantly, providing quality and value for our customers.
