It all started when Eileen Cross came to the realisation that one just does not find good old-fashioned home-baked goodies made with REAL ingredients anymore. You know, the way Grandma used to make them.
Yes, in HER kitchen you would find nothing less, but to create a kitchen where the ‘impoverished palate’ could come and find freshly baked breads, cakes, tarts and treats on a daily basis; this became her dream.
And so with her husband Stephen, this husband-wife team made their plans and ever since the BREAD & BUTTER shop has been churning out food, made the way it should be, to parties of patrons daily.
“The ordinary arts we practice every day at home are of more importance to the soul than their simplicity might suggest.”
We are invited into their home every time we walk through these doors and we can share in the hospitality, recipes and food techniques that are a part of their family heritage, creating memories that will last forever.
Down to the very last cup of tea or coffee of the day we are assured or their full attention to old world service delivery. So the next time you’re in need of some good old-fashioned comfort, come and share your Bread & Butter with a friend.
