This is the third award for the Black Marble Hill Reserve Syrah 2010 in one year as it was also selected as one of the Top 100 SA Wines in 2013 and won a Michelangelo Gold award in 2012. Other awards from Rhebokskloof include the 2009 Syrah du Monde Gold (2006 vintage) and 2010 Syrah du Monde Gold (2007 vintage).
The Estate has been renowned in the past years for the production of excellent Shiraz wines.
“The wine is created from a very special block on the farm that has proved itself over many years to exhibit the particular characters that is typical of our unique terroir and the micro-climate that improves the production of the Shiraz grape”, comments Rolanie Lotz, Rhebokskloof’s winemaker. Lotz is supported by mentor and well-known winemaker, Francois Naude, and Karin Louw as viticulturist. The team consistently produces top quality wines.
The Black Marble Hill Reserve Syrah is Rhebokskloof’s “iconic” wine and the grapes are carefully selected from an 11-year old Shiraz vineyard. The grapes are handpicked, pressed, inserted into 300 litre French oak barrels and aged for 18-24 months. The award-winning wine can be purchased online at www.rhebokskloof.co.za.
Guests can enjoy a tasting of the delicious wines at their tasting room, open on weekdays from 09h00 – 17h00, on weekends and public holidays from 10h00 – 15h00, and closed for business on Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and Good Friday.
