The name change to The Mason’s Winery (from Mason’s Hill Wines) coincides with owner Derek Clift’s celebration of a hundred years of his family’s quarry business. The special ‘Reserve’ pays special homage to that occasion.
Mason’s wines are produced from grapes harvested from small terraced vineyards on De Hoop farm, which lies on the upper slopes of Paarl Mountain. The wines of this boutique winery are blended and crafted from four shiraz clones, each selected to explore the best the soil and terroir have to offer.
Paarl’s warm climate and cool afternoon temperatures are ideally suited for Mason’s award winning wines. The winery’s maiden release, Mason’s Hill 2001 won a Veritas Double Gold award.
