In the same 18th-century building that originally housed the blacksmith, stables and wagon house, visitors will find Babylonstoren’s Farm Shop, offering a treat for the senses.

Cookbooks, ceramics, candles, soap, hats, linen and other exclusive homeware are on offer, as well as preserves, jams, wine and freshly pressed fruit and vegetable juices from the on-site Juicery.

The Bakery supplies the shop with freshly baked bread to be enjoyed with olive oil from the Olive Press and handcrafted cheeses from the Cheese Room. Charcuterie, droëwors and biltong are produced and sold in the Meat Room. Other irresistible reasons to drop by includes the Lekker Room – a tantalising space of flavours where almonds, macadamia and pecan nuts are roasted. From roasted nuts to steaming coffee, four different types of chocolate, sweet and savoury granola and everything in between can be tasted here.

The captivating Scented Room, located in The Barn, is a quiet oasis where guests are mesmerised by the lingering scents of lavender, roses, fynbos and other fragrant plants. Images and scents of the garden are captured in the soaps, candles and bath oils. Guests can play alchemist to make their own body scrubs and face masks or learn the process of making essential oils.

Wines can be purchased at the Farm Shop or the retail area in the Tasting Room. The estate’s range features the flagship Nebukadnesar, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Viognier, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mourvèdre Rosé, Shiraz and Babel Red, a Bordeaux-style red blend, and sparkling Sprankel,
