Paarl’s historic Nederburg winery has undergone a transformation. Never content to rest on its laurels, the Cape Winelands trailblazer has implemented a host of exciting changes that re-affirm its dynamic and progressive status.
Established in 1791, Nederburg today comprises a cutting-edge winery surrounded by an expanse of fine vineyards and views of the majestic Drakenstein Mountains. A premier destination for day visitors as well as conferences and events big and small, it incorporates the historic manor, hugged by tended gardens and shaded by ancient trees.
This physical serenity, however, belies an unwavering focus grounded in heritage, attuned for innovation.
The crown jewel is Nederburg’s stately manor house. Its interior spaces have been beautifully revamped and modernised. Here, in the elegant surrounds of this magnificent historically significant building erected in 1800, is where wine tastings (including some superb older vintages from the wine library), wine and food experiences, and carefully curated events and weddings are presented.
A refreshed restaurant, called The Manor, with talented chef Jerry Kennedy at the helm, is launching in spring. The focus will be on authentic, nostalgic food experiences featuring simple and unassuming, yet wholesome and hearty dishes with a touch of heritage.
Generous picnics for relaxed enjoyment in the sprawling gardens are already on offer, as are breakfast fare, an ever-changing menu of light lunches and superb cheese and charcuterie platters. The stunning bar serves up non-alcoholic versions of your favourite classic cocktails as well as some of the best coffee and hot chocolate in the Winelands. Wine tastings are currently suspended as a result of the ban on alcohol.
Small-scale conferences and meetings can now make use of new meeting rooms on the first floor of the manor house. These spaces could also be booked for private lunches or dinners, or small-scale special events.
PLEASE NOTE: Strict Covid-19 hygiene and safety measures are in place at Nederburg. Please remember, wearing of masks is a must! Arriving guests will be greeted at the door and a member of Nederburg’s friendly staff will use a handheld contactless device to take their temperature. Right of admission reserved.
